For Children

The long sandy beach is a haven for children, but there is more to El Médano than swimming, snorkeling and building sandcastles.

The main square, on the sea front at the end of the promenade, is the meeting place for many of the local children. The open space is ideal for playing and having fun and normally has at least one game of football in progress.

To the side there is a play park for the younger visitors. With several bars and restaurants overlooking the park, mum and dad can enjoy a quiet drink or something to eat, whilst keeping a watchful eye. Another play park is found in the nearby Red Square as well.

If the square football is a little tame then there is a purpose built, hard surface, six-a- side pitch at the top end of town. This open court normally has the local youngsters showing off their ball skills most afternoons and weekends.

The area housing the football pitch is also home to a small skate park. Keen skateboarding and roller bladders can practice their skills on the quarter pipe and a variety of other ramps.

Of course, outside El Médano, Tenerife boasts a host of other attractions, which appeal to children and adults alike. (see Tourist Attractions)
