El Médano...

El Médano, wind capital of Tenerife and home to the Shinn Centre, is situated in the southeast of the island, a mere ten minutes from the south airport, Reina Sofia.

Go back twenty-five years and the town was little more than a tiny fishing village, which happened to be blessed (or cursed depending whether you’re sailing or sunbathing) with a ridiculous amount of wind. Now this thriving town has rightly
earned a reputation as one of the best kitesurfing and windsurfing spots in Europe.

Although the winds have attracted a European community of ´locals´ who have made it their home, the town still retains its friendly Spanish feel. With one of the island’s finest natural beaches overlooked by the Red Mountain to the south it is a popular spot for the island’s locals to relax.

El Médano offers a true taste of Spanish culture, with festivals running in the square through most of the summer adding to the resort's infectious atmosphere.
