La Tejita

Those seeking flat water should take a look at La Tejita. With the stunning backdrop of La Montaña Roja (the mountain that divides South Bay and La Tejita), Tejita is 500m long and and features nothing but sand. Offering the flattest water in El Médano it is ideal for beginners. At the upper end of the beach the wind is slightly offshore. However, the beach curls round as you progress down it ensuring it is cross-shore before you run out of space. It is possible to walk to Tejita from the Centre (15 to 20mins), but this can be a little tiresome, especially carrying your kit!

The local school provides rescue cover (for a nominal fee) during most afternoons in the summer. Please check with the surf school (located very close to the Centre) to ensure there is adequate cover on hand should you need it, before riding there.
